Located in Rockland County in Piermont, Trata on the River opened its doors in October in the completely renovated old Pier 701 restaurant.
Online reviewers say the restaurant, owned by Efthimios Salouros and Annamarie Adinolfi, focuses on Greek cuisine but makes you feel like you're on a Mediterranean Island.
Chef José Luis Falcóne, who has worked at high-end restaurants such as Nobu, Café des Artistes, and Windows on the World, runs the kitchen.
But enough about the ambiance, the food is the focus, and it seems to hit the spot with foodies.
Claudia S. of New Jersey had this to say on Yelp: "Wow!! This restaurant will blow you away!! " " I definitely had an incredible experience. As soon as you walk in, it's absolutely beautifully decorated!
"The food was so delicious that my tastebuds were exploding with flavor. Great views of the Tappan Zee Bridge, and the vibe just makes you feel so relaxed with upbeat music. Expensive but worth it!!! Go and enjoy!"
Menu favorites include Chilean sea bass, shrimp and scallops, nightly specials, crab cakes, lamb, and much more.
Cocktails are a must at Trarta, which has a bar overlooking the river. Reviewers said the drinks are inventive and stiff.
The new Tappan Zee Bridge is officially named the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, while the old bridge was officially named the Gov. Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge.
